Diabetes Transformation – Framing the Future
The STW Strategy & Development team hosted a Diabetes Transformation listening event on Thursday 13th March to help improve care for people living with type 2 diabetes. The workshop was an opportunity for colleagues across the system to share experiences, insights, and challenges in working with individuals with type 2 diabetes. By listening to each other, STW ICB aims to better understand the barriers and collaborate on creating a shared vision for better outcomes.
Diabetes UK joined the listening event, Pete Shorrick – Diabetes UK added ‘the listening event was a positive and constructive afternoon, with great representation and energy across many different disciplines involved in the provision of diabetes care at the ICB. Hugely interactive and engaging, with frustrations being aired, but also shared best practice and innovative ideas being put forward to enable the delivery of an equity and quality of care across the local health economy. Next steps and practical implementation will be a key measure in its success’. Fiona Smith – STW ICB Development & Service Redesign said, 'it was wonderful to get so many of our key partners in the room and to hear the buzz and enthusiasm around wanting to make a difference for our people of Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin living with diabetes, we must now harness that enthusiasm to really push diabetes forward’.
Nicola Durrant STW Quality Improvement Lead, facilitated the Diabetes Transformation listening event will be sharing the insights and outputs in the upcoming weeks.
