A key member of staff who has recently returned to work in the system has been recognised by the regional team for her passion and commitment to children and young people services.

Earlier this month, Vicki Jones, Head of Transformation and Commissioning for Children and Young People, Learning Disability and Autism, received an award for her commitment to service improvement at the Regional Children and Young People’s Conference at the Hawthorns Stadium in West Bromwich.

Vicki, described by the regional team as an ‘inquisitive iguana’, returned to work in the system in October 2023 having worked most of her career in Telford and Wrekin in community development , public health and as a commissioner in the CCG before leaving to take a promotion in the Black Country.

Tracey Jones, Director of Mental Health, Learning Disabilities & Autism, and Children and Young People, said: “Vicki truly deserves to be recognised for her passion and commitment to improving services for children and young people. It’s a pleasure to have the opportunity to work alongside Vicki. I’m thrilled the national team have shone a light on her positive questioning and curious approach and think it will be a while before we stop referring to her as the ‘inquisitive iguana’ in the team!”

In response to the award, Vicki said: “I was really shocked and thrilled to be recognised by the regional team. There are many great people working in the children and young people agenda across the region and I'm honoured to be the voice for CYP in our organisation.”
