Congratulations to Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin’s Core20PLUS Ambassadors!

The Core20PLUS Ambassador Programme was originally launched in 2022 as part of NHS England’s National Approach to Tackling Healthcare Inequalities.

The programme is designed to support people working within the NHS in their commitment to narrow healthcare inequalities, providing them with the knowledge, tools and confidence to discuss what they have learnt with peers and ensure equitable access, excellent experience and optimal outcomes for all.

The Ambassadors will be supported to form local, regional and national networks with others who seek to improve healthcare inequalities and a range of development opportunities will be available to support Ambassadors in their role.

The National Programme has recently launched Cohort 2, seeking expressions of interest from all healthcare systems to become a Core20PLUS Ambassador. A brand-new role was also announced specifically for finance specialists to become part of the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) Health Inequality Finance Fellowship.

An outstanding number of applications were received, with over 250 Core20PLUS Ambassadors and 40 Health Inequality Finance Fellows joining the programme this year.

We are pleased to say that 14 individuals from across NHS Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin have been successfully accepted into the programme, ranging from various departments across the ICB, Provider Trusts and Primary Care.

Tracey Jones, Director of Mental Health, Learning Disabilities & Autism, Children & Young People and ICB Lead for LTP Prevention and Health Inequalities said:

“As a healthcare system we are committed to improving how we plan and deliver healthcare services to population groups experiencing poorer-than-average health access, experience and/or outcomes. We are incredibly pleased to have more Health Inequality advocates in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and I am confident they will act as champions to drive this agenda forward. Well done to all involved.”
